‘The road resurfacing will take place along Van Riebeeck Street from Voortrekker Road to Frans Conradie Drive in Belmont Park. This forms part of vital maintenance to prolong the longevity of the city’s road network. Residents and business owners are advised to anticipate some noise during these working hours, however no work has been planned for Saturdays. We would like to thank road users for their patience while we are improving the road network and ultimately keep Cape Town moving,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

The project will include the following:

• The repair of isolated damaged kerbs and stormwater channels along Van Riebeeck Street
• The raising of road levels within the bell mouth of 5th Avenue and potentially 6th Avenue.
• Removing the existing asphalt surfacing and replacing with hot-mix asphalt.
• The repair of isolated sections of sidewalk surfacing.
• Installation of new joints on the road-over-rail bridge.

Once all Works upgrades are complete, the road markings will be reinstated.
